The Importance of Movement

Many Times, at least for me, I get stuck when I don’t have any ideas. Whether it be for an essay, a youtube video, or a blog post. Now if you guys have been following my youtube channel, then you will know that I once made a video everyday for about 3 months. And so, many of you must wonder how one could keep up that sort of creative output.

Well, there were a couple of things going for me that made the job easy.

  1. It was a simple video format of me talking into the camera.
  2. I read a lot, and so I had a lot of new information everyday to talk about.

With these two factors, making a video everyday was not a problem. However, there were days that were more difficult than others, and so what I implemented something learned from writing. When you are stuck, and when you don’t know what your next word or sentence is going to be, just write anything. Even if the writing is complete shit, get through it. Because once you get through all the shit, then the words you were looking for will come to you. And I had the same approach with my filming.

I would force myself to sit in front of the camera while it was filming, and I would talk until I found something valuable. This could take anywhere from 1 minute to 1 hour, sometimes even more. I just needed to get through all the useless data in my head, unclutter the junk, until I found the value. And this is what I did everyday for that time period of daily videos.

This remains true today, while I am attempting to be more productive. I want to learn and produce higher levels of content, and so that means I will have to get through some crappy days to get to the gold ones. And I think that is how we should all approach life. We shouldn’t expect perfection right off the bat. And when life takes a downturn, we should expect it, and go through it with the knowledge that there is an end to turmoil, and at the end there will be reward.

Too many of us are afraid of hardship. I crave it. I need it. And I recommend for you to do the same.
