I am currently sitting on a foot injury, most likely due to a mixture of exhaustion(body unable to fully recuperate) and misuse. It has been bothering me for the last two days, and it has made walking a painful monotonous experience. However, I came by a mantra that makes it bearable.
This is something that I learned from the former navy seal, Jocko Willink. It is called BTF. It was a mantra that him and other seals used when they were in a tight spot, and survival was at stake. BTF stands for Big Tough Frogman, and frogman is a term often used instead of Navy Seal, most widely used within the seal community.
And as I was walking in pain, I remembered the story of how a seal said, “We’re going to BTF in, and BTF out.”
And so, as a sort of mantra, that is exactly what I uttered to myself as I walked all day across campus, and back home.
Every where I went. And sometimes I would mix it up, and I would utter unstead, ”
And it would give me the little boost in mental toughness that I needed to get through the pain, and see the objective. Definitely something I will continue to use throughout my day.
Thank you Jocko, and thank you guys for reading,
