The Art of Healing

The last few days have been quite hard on me. Life greeted me with several obstacles that needed to be overcome.

They both hit me pretty hard in the emotional department, and if I had to be honest, they are hitting me pretty hard right now.

However, over the past few days, my work output increased, I am more positive, and I am not allowing what happened to drag me down.

So if you are going through a rough spot in your life, here are a couple things that I do to keep me mentally healthy, and productively.

1. Do not linger over the past.
The first thing that we like to do when we something bad happens is replay in our minds the exact thing that happened or the exact thing that caused our situation. It is good to dissect what caused the issue and figure out how to prevent this from ever happening, but it is not good, however, to linger, because this only makes you feel worse. Reflect, learn the lesson, and move on.

2. Focus on what you can do right now.
Instead of lingering over the past, ask yourself, “What can I do right now to make my situation better?”. If you want to solve the issue, the first thing you have to do is start.

3. Focus on what you will do to solve the issue.
Now that you have started, you need an action plan to follow that will solve the issue.
And sometimes you can’t solve the issue, because of the fact that it already happened and it’s irreversible, then what you focus on instead is how to prevent it from happening ever again, and how to grow from it.

These three steps will allow you to change your focus, and your mindset from depressed to actionable and moving.

Keep moving, and keep living.
